Paying a graphic designer seems like a waste of money that could be used elsewhere. Is it really that important to hire a professional designer for my business?
 

It really depends on a few things, but in most cases, yes. Hiring a professional to design your company's visual identity is a high-yield, low-risk investment.

There are a few rare situations where hiring a graphic designer would not be necessary.
 

• You have the necessary design knowledge

 

                                 AND

• You have the free time to make your designs perfect

In most cases, neither of these is true for entrepreneurs, especially having the free time. You might be thinking to yourself that you can figure out how to create your design, and that may be true, but consider a few things.
 

• Professional graphic designers are more than just creative people. They often have a degree in a related field and several years of experience. This gives them the added benefit of being able to tell a story through their designs. Even with all of that experience, it can still take a professional several days to complete one design.

• There are many things that are not simply common knowledge that must be considered when creating a design. Does your design need to use vector or raster graphics? What file types will you need? What size do your files need to be?

• Every successful major business or organization has a detailed style guide that defines how visual elements are to be portrayed. Things such as specific colors(not just red or green, but specific RGB and CMYK color codes), fonts, font sizes, text alignment, shapes, white space, plus a ton more. A style guide also defines when and how each and every one of those elements are required to be used. If you don't have one, make sure you set a week aside to research each element and create a style guide before you ever consider designing anything else.

• There are several small styling details that you may not think about when creating your design. Those details could be the difference between someone in your target market choosing to find out more about your company or deciding that your brand identity looks a little unprofessional.

This is only a small fraction of the reasons that hiring a professional graphic designer is not an area where you will want to cut corners. It's pretty well known that the modern person has a very short attention span. Less than 5 seconds is the amount of time it takes someone to decide whether they are going to move on or look into your business more. You can guarantee that your logo and visual elements will play a part in that decision before a word about your business is ever read.

In the event that you do have the necessary design knowledge, you probably don't have an abundance of free time to devote to all of the fine-tuning your designs will need.

What makes Temple Creative the right choice for my design or marketing needs?
 

The short answer is that we might not be the best choice for your business.

Now for the long answer. Temple Creative is focused on conducting business in a professional, but personable manner. We would love to work with everyone that finds themselves in need of design or marketing services, but that's not realistic. For starters, that's a broad statement and we can't handle all of the design and marketing services in the world. We don't have near enough hard drive space for that.

For a more serious reason, I can't tell you how many times I have been referred to someone in a particular field and I just didn't click with them. They may have been the best at what they do, but they weren't the right choice for me.

So we may not be the right choice for you, but we would love the opportunity to speak with you so that you can make an informed decision about whether you would like to hire us for your design and/or marketing needs.

How does Temple Creative handle the design process?
 

After you decide that Temple Creative is the right fit for your business, the entire process can vary based on the service(s) that are needed, but we strive to be as thorough as possible to ensure that you get the perfect designs for you.

As an example, let’s look at the logo design process
 

• Initial consultation

• 50% deposit due

• 5 logo concepts are designed

• After you review, we will discuss what you like and dislike about each

• Based on our discussion, we will tweak the designs and start to narrow the concepts down

• Once a final design is approved, we will fine tune everything and export several file types to be delivered to you upon payment of the remaining balance.

• We will save your files on our end should you ever misplace yours or if they need future revisions. (We include 2 revisions at no additional charge)

One thing that remains the same regardless of the design or marketing services you need is that whenever feasible, we like to meet with you face-to-face to discuss your business and your vision. This allows us to not just hear what you have to say about what you want to achieve, but to actually get a real feeling of who you are and what your business is all about. Sometimes this isn’t possible due to geographical limitations, time restraints, etc… In cases where we cannot meet face-to-face, then we can communicate with you however you are most comfortable. Phone, email, video chat, etc…

Do we own the artwork that you create for our business?

​

No, not the actual artwork files unless agreed upon in the proposal. However, ALL approved web images and high resolution images purchased are 100% yours once the project is fully complete and paid for.

Is the artwork you create for me something generic found through a web search?

​

NO, we create and draw artwork from inspiration given in your free consultation and style review.
